Hi John, in the case of the example we&#039;re talking about an event that we can expect to be completed (&quot;he is going to do it&quot;) but &quot;will&quot; also works to emphasise that belief, i.e. &quot;He is going to do it.&quot; shows an expected belief, &quot;He will do it.&quot; shows a more emphatic confirmation (a slightly different use to the planned/unplanned uses discussed here).
