Hi Jaime, for the overall sense of the words I think you have the right idea but I would perhaps not take it quite to that extreme – while yes, deceit certainly has that aspect of taking advantage, deception isn’t necessarily jokey. It is lighter as a word and can suggest something less negative, but this is relative to deceit, rather than absolute – it does not mean deception is always necessarily lighthearted (it certainly could be used to be quite negative, like deceit, but comparatively, we might lean towards deceit for a darker meaning). I hope this makes sense!

From the Spanish language point of view, deception sounds more like “disappointed or let down” so it is a false friend.
From the written, I understand that deceit and deception mean the same but in the first, there’s sickness and someone takes advantage of it meanwhile in the latter there’s just a joke, some laughs.
Am I right?
