Thanks Jaime, I'm glad you liked it and had a good go at the questions. I think it's worth noting that you don't necessarily need to be able to use such language, but the exercise hopefully helps understanding of it.

Sorry, I write to appreciate and collaborate on this great exercise, excuse my mistakes.
1. Not necessary/. 2, slang or informal/, 3 and 4, to create an atmosphere/ 6 Past Continuous/ 6. Tova/. 7 ? I don't know/. 8 Tova. It's just a description/, 10 I think "that might have been some accident,/ 11. Tova.
12- A scared woman in a haunting foreign country.
I'm not totally sure having understood the plot. Which is the part of the elderly woman? Some expressions are new for me, perhaps I understand them, But I would never dare to use them at my level of English however I find them useful to prompt you to use "poetic or dared expressions.
Finally, your summarise, it's much more under stable to me.
Thank you for pushing me to think of better in English.

Hi Desire,
Thanks, yes I did think this one would be a tough one. That's a good idea, I have been meaning to do some work on idioms on the site and that sounds like a good way to put it into an exercise, I'll look into doing one soon.

The exercise is tough and interesting because I intend to take a MA in English language and literature or English literature or African literature if I get a scholarship.
I would like you to provide a lesson first about figures of speech then to proceed with this exercise. When doing so, you let the learner answer themselves then check the answers after getting the score. I think that way it will be more helpful.
I look forward to hear from you again.
Kind regards.
